Dining

The Brighton serves buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is quoted amongst the best 3 red forks of the Michelin Guide. The restaurant is adorned with a portrait of King George IV, the British monarch who transformed the Brighton Pavilion into a fairy tale oriental palace at the beginning of the 19th century. The walls of the restaurant are embellished with frescos of figures in Chinese apparel; of which the hand painted originals are in the banqueting room of that same palace.

The restaurant is very popular during lunchtime due to its special business menu. When the weather allows, lunch and dinner can also be served in the interior garden, in the shadow of a 100 year old magnolia tree. Since January 2004, the Brighton restaurant achieved 1 Toque in the Gault&Millau culinary Guide. The restaurant serves French seasonal cuisine with Belgian produce.

Opening hours: 12:00-14:30 / 19:00-22:00, Monday – Friday. Closed on Saturday, Sunday and official holidays.

The library Bar is the perfect place for an aperitif or an after-dinner cognac in front of the fireplace. It provides a cosy atmosphere and is decorated with comfortable leather sofas, and warm colours.

Opening hours: 16:00-24:00, Monday – Sunday.

On the positive side, the hotel lobby and dining room were both grand, as would be expected in a five star hotel. However, our room was badly laid out and therefore seemed cramped. The breakfast seriously lets the hotel down--a buffet style, with limited hot food, very chewy rolls, and plastic cheese slices! The hotel location was good, with a nearby Tube station (Troon). Local restaurants seemed at first sight very pricey, but careful searching of the side streets, uncovered gems like Le Tournant, run by a husband and wife, serving noisy regulars., and L'Antretemps

I stayed this hotel a day when I visited Brussels from London via Eurostar. I am a frequent traveler. 1. It's worth staying here. Room was clean and pleasant to stay. Windows open fully. Atmosphere is very calm, maybe it was weekend. It fronted an office building, so in the weekday, it would be busy. Included continental breakfast was quite good. Not so cheap as most hotels in the US. You need to pay for internet service in a room or lobby. Expensive. 2. Hotel seemed not managed well. Staffs were not kind as a professional and a human being. All are very stiff except for a waitress in the restaurant. A man in the front didn't greet well. When I asked a man in the front for a recommended cafe or bakery, he said reluctantly " go to the city center." I asked him three times. Room service man was also unkind. 3. It is close to the metro (1-2 min), which was 5-6 stations away from Midi station for EUROSTAR. I paid about 15 euros for a taxi from Grand Place to hotel to Midi station. 4. About 20 min away by walk from a Grand Place, but not quite far. Summarily, it is quite nice place to stay with special weekend deal, if you don't mind its location, away from Grand Place, and unpleasant staffs.
