Ladybird Lodge - Bromsgrove, United Kingdom 

Modern basic hotel near Bromsgrove. Largish room but cleaning a bit superficial - heavy dust on all narrowwer flat services! Attached to an italian restaurant (closed which seemed to be a surprise to reception) and a pub (nothing special, does food but unappetising menu). A fair way from Bromsgrove centre (25 minute very brisk walk). Bromsgrove is small but has some nice pubs and a very good Thai restaurant. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, over-cooked bland ingredients and hot-plate not been replenished often enough. Bromsgrove Station is next to the hotel (yes, this does mean that Bromsgrove station is not in Bromsgrove!) and has frequent fast trains to Birmingham (20 minutes to New Street).

Chose the hotel from TripAdvisor website when Birmingham hotels were are full. Location next door to Bromsgrove station, with fast trains to Birmingham was ideal for next day early business meeting. Ladybird Lodge exceeded my expectations. The complex has a three star hotel, a pub (the original Ladybird) and an excellent Italian restaurant next door. Reception was efficient and friendly and the room was spacious, well furnished with a comfortable bed and an excellent bathroom. What more do you need on a business trip?
