Stayed here recently. Was exceptionally impressed with every aspect of the place - customer service exemplary, quality of food amazing (local high calibre ingredients), stunning setting, charming and characterful surroundings. Would most certainly recommend. It is refreshing that an owner is so passionnate about their property, service and guest experience.

I noticed this hotel while browsing a lake district hotel website and after checking it out on Tripadvisor decided to give it a try. As it was our 44th wedding anniversary we decided rather than just going out for a nice meal somewhere we would combine it with an overnight stop in the lake district ( we only live 50 minutes from the lake district - Bury Lanc's ). What a little gem it turned out to be. As you go through the front door you can feel the ambience hit you, roaring log fire, restful furniture, lovely little bar, just the job on a cold afternoon. The bedroom that we had ( No4 ) on the first floor was beautiful, spotless and large with a big quirky ensuite. The evening meal was just superb, with a good choice to pick from, and a very attentive staff to attend to your every need. The owners are always on hand and are very polished in their organisation of this establishment. Breakfast was substantial to set us up for the return journey. Will definately be going back to this one.
