Very friendly, very clean hotel. Breakfasts are great. Owners are very helpful. Perfect location right in the middle of Bruges - 2 minutes walk from the Burg and Markt squares.
No stairs so not for the elderly or those who have difficulty climbing. The room on the top floor (where we stayed) almost required a climbing rope!
Lovely garden and breakfast room.
I would recommend this hotel 100%!

I booked directly with the hotel as they were offering the best rate I could find, and breakfast was included in the price.
The Anselmus is a great small hotel in a central location. I pre booked secure parking and was allocated an individual garage inside an access controlled area a few minutes walk from the hotel.
There were two adults and a 13 year old in our party. Going by the photos on the hotel website I chose to book a quad room rather than a triple room as the triple room appeared to be in the eaves and the quad looked far more spacious. I was therefore a little disappointed when we were shown to a room in the eaves. It was a lovely room (no 12), but two of the single beds are pushed lengthwise against the sloping ceiling. We had to pull one of them out so that our son could sit up/get in and out of the bed safely without fear of hitting his head on the beams. The floor boards in the room were very creaky.. it didn't bother us but it may have bothered someone staying in the room below us!
The hotel was very clean and decorated to a high standard. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom looked newly fitted. Ours had a small bath with a hand held shower attachment and no curtain.
We found the staff to be friendly and very helpful. I requested a kettle in the room when I booked with the hotel, and one was in the room on arrival.
I would certainly recommend the hotel for comfort, location and cleanliness. If we return to Brugge we will stay here again, and we would request the same room as the sloping ceilings were really only a minor inconvenience.
