Four of us visited Antwerp as a family for a weekend break. The city was great, but Hotel Antigone was a big disappointment. We got put into 'the apartment round the back' - one of the oddest conversions I have ever seen. It clearly used to be a bar - they left the old beer taps in - and was floor to ceiling glass, which they have covered with heavy blinds to provide privacy. This means that the whole studio is dark all the time. The beds are those ones which let down from the wall, and were just the most uncomfortable ones I have slept in for a long time. Bad backs all round! The space was odd, cramped and poorly finished. The owners were not interested. Breakfast was ok, though and the hotel is in a very central position. Even taking into account you get what you pay for, this was not a bargain at any price.

The only good thing about this hotel is the price and the hot water!! faint smell of drains drifting up from the basement, staff very helpful but the owner/manager is not. Do not try to make, or receive a phone call after 11pm !!!
