Hotel Cammerpoorte - Antwerp, Belgium     

We read the reviews for the Cammerpoorte and decided to give it a try. We were pleased with it overall. The reviews were fairly accurate. It is within walking distance to the train station which was very convenient. The main area was very close as well. The location of this hotel is the best part of it. It is very convenient. The breakfast was more than adequate with very helpful staff. It is a nice, large eating area, and it was very clean. We had two rooms in our party. One was on the backside of the hotel, and one in the front. The traffic was heard in the front room, but nothing too troubling or loud. The rooms were decorated in loud, vibrant colors, oranges, etc. The carpet was fairly dirty in appearance. When we first walked into the room, we were greatly disappointed. We really considered leaving due to the tacky appearance of the room. However, we stayed, and it was actually great once you got over the cheap furniture and tacky colors. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were very clean and comfy. It is a basic, budget hotel, but the strengths of the location and breakfast, and accommodating front desk staff, makes the tacky colors of the room secondary. Once you get past the appearance, you realize that this place really is alright and a great deal. We only stayed one night, and it was more than adequate. If you are going to Antwerp for a getaway weekend and plan on staying in the room a lot, move up a level in hotels. If you are planning on using the room for sleeping and getting ready, than this is the deal of the city with the location. We would stay here again even if you do have to overlook the cheap furniture and the vibrant colors.

Alcune guide turistiche consigliano la Pension Cammerpoorte (molto vicina) che ha i soliti proprietari, ma quella è ormai chiusa. L’Hotel Cammerpoorte è un albergo a due stelle in buona posizione. La zona attorno alla cattedrale e al Grand Place è un po’ più interessante ma non è lontana a piedi. Assicuratevi di vedere le camere prima di prenotare. Alcuni troveranno che le camere sul fronte dell’albergo sono un po’ rumorose per via della strada, e almeno alcune delle camere sul retro non hanno finestra, ma molte camere hanno tre o più leti (buono per famiglie), e alcune hanno la cucina.
