4My husband and I spent 4 nights in Vienna this past September. We chose hotel Regina after reading some of the reviews found on the old mighty world wide web, knowing a little bit about the creaking in the floor, the hundred year old building, well maintained as it appeared from others' description.
We got there in the afternoon and asked for a room overlooking the Votiv Church. The girl at the desk said that it may not be possible, as all the other rooms were booked, but that the one we had was very nice, better than a standard double room with only a partial view of the church, and that if we didn't like it, she could move us to a double standard room. So we went up to see room 409 before making a decision about taking it or not. It was at the fourth floor, a corner room with so much light (there were large windows on two different walls), and so much space. And she was right... you could see the church from our window if you looked to your right. Bed was nicely made, no "antique" quilt as someone here suggested, but impeccably white and fresh. The bathroom was smallish for my taste, but immaculate. Needless to say, we gladly took it.
The breakfast was enchanting, a feast to the eye as well as to your taste buds. Eggs were nicely made, bacon and sausage tasty, fresh vegetables, cereales, cold cuts, cheeses, not to mention a wonderful selection of fresh, mouth watering, delicious pastries. Coffee was disappointing, as well as the fact that they served the same breakfast every morning (other hotels change the items served for breakfast daily), so it became a little boring after the second morning.
The staff was nice and accomodating, the mini bar attended each day of our stay there, the cleaning done properly.
All in all, we had a wonderful experience at Hotel Regina. Next time we're in Vienna, we know that we'll have a wonderful room (maybe the same 409 corner room we so enjoyed this trip) right there.
