Disappointing experience

Great location however my experience at this hotel was disappointing, I booked this hotel after reading TA reviews. The service was virtually non-existent and while the reception desk was resourced staff were only present intermittently on weekends and after 5pm. They were surly and seemed disinterested in their role, we are low maintenance travellers and only required a rough city map on arrival and even that seemed to present as an imposition. I realise the Austrians are reserved but the attitude displayed by staff at Graben was unfortunate. After 5 wweks in central Europe this was the most disappointing accommodation, do yourself a favour and book elsewhere.

Apart from the fantastic location this hotel doesnt have much going for it. Old, decrepid and rather spooky. We arrived just before midnight and checked into our room only to find everything reeking of cigarette smoke. When we went to complain we were told that the hotel was fully booked and that the room we were in was a non smoking room. Turns out that the ventilation system works in a way that the smoke seeps up via the aircon vents and into the room! I have to say it was the most horrible first night experience in my entire life. I slept on top of my coats and jackets and have had to buy scented candles and Oust to spray all of my clothes. Thank goodness the smell was gone the next day after the cleaners had gone through them but as far as Im concerned, the damage was done. I wasnt impressed, and now that I know my way around Vienna I definitely wouldnt be staying in that hotel again.

No frillls, but excellent location, quality and price.

The Graben Hotel is a classic European hotel: small rooms without any frills. That being said, the location is excellent, everything was clean, and the price was quite reasonable. Location: The hotel is located in the central shopping district which is essentially an extremely large outdoor mall. Almost all of the major tourist attractions are within walking distance. For those going to concerts, the State Opera is about a 5 minute walk away, and the Musikverein is 10 minutes. If you arrive to the city by air, there is a train that runs between the Air Port and the City Air Train Terminal without making any other stops; the hotel is within walking distance with luggage to that train station. Hotel: While my room was small, everything was very clean. It looked like the bathroom had been completely redone in the last 5 years or so, so it was in excellent shape. Breakfast: Standard European menu. There's a restaurant in the hotel, but I never tried it. Overall, I would stay at the Graben again and recommend it to others.

hotel bien place dans vienne. ideal pour visiter la ville et ses monuments.chambre très confortable malgré une vue sur la cour. personnel accueillant. A conseiller.
