4My partner and I were part of a 31 person group travelling to Vienna for a 2 night break. The week before we were due to go the agent arranging the trip was informed by our original hotel that they could no longer accommodate us, as a large regular corporate customer had traken precedence over us with a late booking. Instead we were to go to the Arcotel. We were assured that it was a better hotel than our original Mercure and although further from the city centre was very close to a Ubahn station, which proved to be true.
Arriving by coach from the airport, our mass check -in was dealt with very efficiently by the front desk even though it was before the official check-in time and all special requests were catered for without any fuss. We found our room which was spacious, well furnished and bright. It was spotlessly clean. The beds (2 wide singles pushed together) were extremely comfortable.
The shower was large and there was plenty of hot water delivered at a very good pressure.
We had an excellent buffet breakfast both mornings, the first taken on the lovely patio overlooking a lake.
Our only slight concern was the keenness of the staff to start clearing breakfast away well before the 10 o'clock end time, especially on Sunday when they were anxious to prepare the room for Brunch which started at 11.
There was no problem storing our luggage for us after check out either. Access to a from the city centre was very easy and the public transport system was extremely efficient, with a train every 5 minutes on our U1 line. The last train back left Stephansplatz at 0030.
All in all, this was indeed a lucky find !
