Location

The town has retained all the traditional attractions of its Victorian origins; a beautifully restored pier, carefully tended gardens, Punch & Judy show, donkey rides on the beach and a bandstand that is in regular use. The town is not frozen in time though, in Llandudno you will find a bustling all season centre for shopping, entertainment and cultural life.

The Great Orme is a holiday adventure in its own right, with plenty to explore. Take the Victorian tramway or the cable car (Britain’s longest) to the top - or clamber up on foot! -The views will always take your breath away. Try your hand on the 250 metre dry ski slope or the 700 metre toboggan run. Stroll through the Happy Valley gardens or play a round of golf on one of the 10 local golf courses, marvel at the history of the local castles or delve into the mystery and legend of our Celtic ancestors. Llandudno is one of the finest traditional seaside resorts in the world and ‘Can-Y-Bae’ is the ideal base to explore it all from.

Regrettably we only booked for one night. We found the hosts, Dave & Michael, to be very friendly and nothing would have been too much trouble. The location is excellent, being central between the town and theatre/conference centre. The bar although small was a welcome retreat after an evening out. Although we did not sample the evening meal, conversations with those who had told us that it was excellent. There was everything to choose from at breakfast as little or as much as was required and nothing was too much trouble. This is one hotel to definitely put on your shortlist for a trip to Llandudno. We will be returning, maybe with our dog, as those visiting with their pets were no problem to other guests. We look forward to a return visit very soon J A & J C (ST7)

Having read guest reviews prior to travelling, I knew that the Can-y-Bae would be good but I have to say that there is something really special about this hotel. The fact that it is rated 1st out of 72 establishments in Llandudno bears testament to that. Where to begin? Well, the hotel is immaculate throughout. Numerous little touches add to the experience - complimentary water, mints, shower gels, ironing facilities in your room etc. The view of the promenade from the bay window in the lounge is fab - you could sit there all day. The hotel bar is "cool" as my teenage niece remarked. The dinner menu offered excellent value for money. As for the food...the homemade chocolate sponge pudding was to die for! However, the hotel's biggest asset is undoubtedly it's owners Michael and Dave whose genuine hospitality created a warm, inviting atmosphere. Thanks guys for a great stay at the Can-y-Bae. I am already planning a return trip in the Autumn. x
