Kolikovski Hotel - Sofia, Bulgaria 

Booked a last minute break for bank holiday. The hotel Kolikovski was on a side street off the main road of Sofia ( mini London with about a third of the population, and plenty of bars outside to sit at and watch the world go by). And close to all of the historic sites within walking distance. We were pleasantly surprised with the hospitality and friendliness of the people. The hotel is fairly new and it is kept in prestine condition. Breakfast was plentiful (sometimes could have been warmer, but apparently Bulgarians eat food warm rather than hot). We asked to be booked into a different restaturant each night so that we could try real Bulgarian food and we were never disappointed all the restaurants (Pri Yafate, Chevermeto, Mahaciupeka and Hadjidraganovite) were within walking distance, serving good food and alcohol at a ridiculous low price, with entertainment as an added bonus. Sofia still has the charm of a cultural city without to much hustle and bustle, be warned once the euro is the monetary exchange I fear the prices will rocket.

We stayed here for my partner's birthday after spending several days in a cheap but very basic hotel out in the sticks so this was a real treat. Lovely suite, very clean and comfortable with everything that you might need and in a great location near the centre of Sofia with lots of resturants and bars. I would highly recommend this hotel.
