Favourable experience on returning to this hotel after 13 years

I first stayed in this hotel 13 years ago and had fond memories of it. The hotel is in two buildings, one of which fronts the street with the other (newer) building behind. Last time I stayed in the new building but this time we had a room in the older part facing in to the courtyard. The room was large and comfortable and well furnished. The carpet was a little worn and the decor was looking a bit tired - it could do with some new wallpaper - but it was very clean. The bathroom was quite small (with a separate toilet adjacent) and there was a bath and good powerful shower. The only downside was a connecting door to the next room meant we could hear the man in the next room coughing a lot but that was only on the first night and he went to bed before we did. Last time I stayed with my family we had two adjacent rooms and they unlocked the interconnecting doors so this could be a bonus for families. The breakfast was very good indeed with a full range of hot and cold choices - as good as any we have had in similar 4 star hotels. Staff were friendly and efficient. Overall a very nice hotel which could just do with a bit of redecoration but otherwise good value for money and only 100m from the nearest Metro station. Within walking distance of city centre too (10-15 minutes). Local restaurants opposite the church on the nearby Servitergasse also very good.

Worst hotel, not a 4* start hotel for sure!

We stayed at this hotel for 5 days, for our Christmas holiday. The hotel is dissapointing and we have never experienced such bad service or accomodation before. The only thing that was acceptable was the breakfast, but this was hardy a 3* breakfast. The furnitude in the room looked 100 years old. It was cold in the room, we asked for a heater and they did not provide one. The lenjery on the bad was not clean, the sheets had holes. The receptionists could not care less about our situation. Overall I will say it is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in on holiday and would recommend you not to ruin your holiday by staying there. Or at least be prepared for the worst.
