Holiday Inn Vienna South - Vienna, Austria     

Stayed for one night on business, and chose this hotel for the good reviews and the close proximity to the 'Vienna Business Park' area. If you need to be close to the business park, there is no real alternative unless you want to take a cab or metro / bus ride. To get to the centre you need to get a bus 65A to the nearest metro station (Reumannplatz, 15 mins), then take the metro from there (line U1, another 15 min). In a cab it's about 15 euro to Stephansplatz. I think the hotel was taking advantage of its location, the standard rate is over 200 Euro per night excl breakfast, that is very expensive for a Holiday Inn. It was a standard, basic hotel with a very uninspiring decor, no internet access in the rooms. Everything worked OK, apart from the aircon in the bathroom which made a high-pitched whistle that could not be turned off and kept me awake. I found this a very depressing place, and would rather stay somewhere else next time, and get up earlier ! I must say the staff were helpful and pleasant however, my complaints are just about the look and feel of the place.

On May 2006, I made a 10-day trip with a group, around Europe. We spent 2 nights in Vienna. Holiday Inn South was the best hotel we could ever have! The staff was very polite and helpful, (special thanks to the bartender who stayed awake late at night making drinks for us Greeks!). And even though we were a group of 100 people we had absolutely no problem in checking in. My room was large, shinny and very comfortable and so was the bathroom. Very large bed, I slept like a bird! Breakfast was beyond any expectation, huge! I should have stayed there a whole week so as to taste everything... I loved this hotel and so did the rest members of the group. I didn't hear a single complain while we were in Vienna, everybody liked it very much. If only I could have stayed there forever!
