My wife and I stayed at this hotel for three nights, during a snowy long weekend in February 2009. We had a fantastic stay at the hotel. The service was fine, the hotel and the room were very clean, the staff was pleasant and polite and the hotel restaurant was very nice. It will most probably be on my top list when visiting Vienna in the future.

no a/c in summer

If you are staying Vienna in July I suggest you pay attention to the fact that not all hotels have a/c in them. This hotel is not the exception. It is across the street from a mosque. The sun pours through the windows all day and makes the room virtually unbearable. Night noise with the window open then takes your sleep away. Designed as a vacation killer. Convenient to public transportation. I suggest using it and go somewhere else. Rick Steve's book says it has a/c. He has obviously never stayed here.

Stayed in this hotel during Euro 2008, after our tour company switched hotels twice before settling on this one. My first nonsmoking room was quite shabby, dirty, stained carpets and reeked of smoke. However, the desk clerk without hesitation switched me to another room which was smaller, but clean and neutral smelling. Big problem was no AC, just a fan. However, the windows opened and let in fresh air. But I was concerned about leaving my window open at night because of the exterior stairs outside my window. On the plus side, the desk staff was responsive and helpful. They had one computer with free internet access. And the buffet breakfast was really good with lots of choices, even pate! The hotel is not very conveniently located, but the train station is across the street.
