We've stayed four night in this hotel. Staff was very helpful and they gave us an air-conditioned room (executive) for free (our booked rom was standard). About the rooms: standard rooms are ventilated by hotel's air-cooling system and there -is no possibility to control the temperature in the room. Some rooms (executive I think) have air-conditioned system with custom control in the room. Apparently the air-cooling system is not efficient or not working.
Very clean, the bathroom also, they change the towels every day if you use them. Breakfast was very good. Overall it was a pleasant accomodation. The car garage is expensive - 18 euros/24 hours.
The hotel is situated at 150 m from the Danube Channel so the Ring is at a walking distance. On the opposite direction you may reach the Prater.

The Mercure Wien City is a little off city center, but the metro can be easily reached in a 5-10 minutes walk, crossing the Danube ( Schwedenplaz on the U4 Bahn line). We took a train from Budapest to Vienna (Westbahnoff is a metro station) and journeyed on to Prague (Sudbahnoff is a five minute walk from Sudtirolerplaz metro station). European hotels are in general not that generously spaced, but this was the smallest among the hotels booked through our Gate1 package. We had problems with the ambiant temperature and had to keep the windows open. Housekeeping was ok. The highlight of our stay, however, was the outstanding breakfast. So many juices to choose from, eggs, meats, cheese, yogurts, cereals and the most heavenly bread - the hearty, multigrain kind that's actually heavy.
