This Hotel looks great, there are actually two right next to each other, I stayed in the newer more modern one. Or so I thought.... First appearances the place looks fantastic, funky modern furniture, nice flatscreen tvs at the entrance, however their hotel apartments, are hardly suitable for cooking in. The hot plate is about as big as an A4 piece of paper, and trust me you wouldnt want to cook on it.. They didnt even bother with a proper double bed, they just pushed two together! not great for couples! These are just a few of the Main problems: 1. Toilet at the end of the world: The toilet is inconveniently at the end of the room, with the bath at the other end with a sink. why? I dont know.. silly design if you ask me..really annoyed me. 2. No Air Conditioning: In the Summer, vienna is worse than London, not only does it get Hot here, its awfully humid... no problem you say, turn on the AC at the Altmannsdorf? or aclimatisation as they call it here... only problem is... there isnt a system, and I couldnt even find any ventillation shafts in my room... I did have two radiating heaters that were ON when I arrived though! I woke up at least twice each night from the heat, and many more times on the first night.. 3. Poor Customer Service: When I complained to the reception the following morning, they told me there was a cooling system that was central, and asked for my room no. so they could turn it on... how nice! made no difference, as I dont believe there ever was a central cooling system here. They also suggested I turn down the radiators, nice advice sherlock! I decided to open the windows and terrace door, which hardly helped and had to put up with a host of bugs that came in. The reception staff were also unable to give me details on call charges for the phone. They knew very little about the place they were working in.. 4. Lack of Cleaning: The cleaning lady came once to change my towels during the first 4 days of my visit, I had to call reception to ask for them to come again. They suggested i hadnt left the towels on the floor, I had..... they had been there for two days! 5: No Room Service, and Broadband that costs an arm and a leg: No room service, and the restaurant closes at 8:30, the same room also doubles as a breakfast room and the main lobby of the hotel! hardly somewhere to relax, and I didnt see anyone ever eating there apart from at breakfast. 6. Broadband is expensive: Actually its more like DSL from 6 years ago, speeds of 128 256 or 512 kbps, and you actually have to pay more for the higher speed 512kbps speed, and the hourly rate is like 4 euros, they will certainly have paid for their monthly subscription through the use of just one guest. Ive been to the Crowne Plaza in Kuwait of all places and even they had High Speed 1MB internet which was FREE! this was really poor... thats about all I can think of.... so if youre thinking about the Altmansdorf, think again, avoid it like the plague!

We wanted to kill our travel agent

In Vienna we stayed at the Gartenhotel Altmannsdorf. The hotel is mostly ok because it's clean, but the room has the toillet bowl in one tiny room and the bathtub with the lavatory in another room (really wird for men) with the bed in between. The breakfast buffet it's ok too, but only if you stay for one day. We stayed for three and it got boring (they served the same things every morning). The hotel staff is very helpfull and polite. The real problem with this hotel is its location. We asked for a hotel close to the Stephansdom and this one is located far behind Sisi's Palace, nowhere near the Stepansdom. However, if you have the hotel's address any taxi driver will take you there because they use the Navigator system. We wanted to kill our travel agent.
