"Great hotel"Posted: Mon, Nov 23 2009Value:
3We stayed here for 3 nights in May 2005. Anyone planning a visit to Vienna will no doubt have noticed that hotel prices in the city are extremely high. We selected the Hotel Kavalier after getting a [relatively] good deal on Travelocity (~ $85 US / night) - even though we could find few user reviews for this hotel anywhere. We were very pleased with our choice.
Not an historic property by any means - The hotel itself is either new or must recently have been renovated. Our room was great, however - very clean, spacious, etc. The hotel’s lobby and lounge are likewise quite nice. The staff were very courteous and helpful. The breakfast was OK.
Although the hotel may seem slightly “out of the way”, this really is not an issue at all. There is a tram stop right in front of the hotel which runs to the main train station, and from there it is only a short ride on the underground to the Stephansplatz and all the sights. Vienna’s public transit system is excellent. (We also walked from the hotel to the Stephansplatz).
We would highly recommend the Hotel Kavalier to anyone planning a visit to Vienna – it is a great choice, and strikes a good balance between price, location + amenities, etc.
