"Good Hotel"

Booked this place through Priceline and got a pretty good deal. The room was of standard quality...nothing special and pretty generic. I would emphasize that the folks at the front desk and the concierge were very friendly and helpful. They all spoke perfect English and were willing to help us navigate Paris. The location is fine. There are two Metro stations on different lines within 10 minutes walk. There is also a big store adjacent to the hotel. The store sold everything from underwear to books to groceries. There was also a good cafe for breakfast nearby...ask the concierge. Solid hotel choice for the price we paid. If I had to pay their advertised rates, I would have chosen something a little more quaint and Parisian.

Very nice clean hotel with competent staff. Good breakfast provided as well. Close to south train station, but far from main tourist attractions. Walking 20-25 minutes. That may be the only drawback for elderly couples or a couple with children. I would return to this property only if I wanted to be close to south train station. Otherwise, I might look for a property closer in.

While the Prinz Eugen hotel is not located in the heart of Vienna, it is nevertheless a very well situated property. It is directly across the Sudnbanhof train station, which was our departure point for Prague after the stay in Vienna and we did not want to fuzz carrying luggage in the metro, etc. It is 2 blocks away from the Schloss Belvedere and a very nice 15 min. walk to city center or 2 blocks to metro station. If you are looking for good sized quiet rooms, good breakfast included in the price per night and you don't mind not having a "magical view", then this hotel is for you. Staff was courteous and pleasant and all we asked for-extra pillows were provided. Highly recomemded.

Hotel just fine if you need to be close to the railway South Station to continue your tri to another destination but want to have a touristic stop at the incredible Viena. Fine rooms but no internet available therein (neither wifi nor wired, although it was advertised in Venere), something unbelievable nowadays for a 4* hotel. Uninteresting breakfast, too. Ten minutes to the city center with the "D" tram.

We stayed at the Prinz Eugen for 1 night in early June 2008. As other reviews have said, the hotel is easy to find as it's obliquely opposite the sudbahnhof (south train station). The city centre is relatively close but I don't know what sort of walk it is as a friend was driving us around. I do know that a taxi to the cathedral could cost about 10 euros depending on traffic. That's because they sometimes have to take a rouundabout route. The area the hotel is in is also not the greatest. Not really much to see. The outside of the hotel isn't much to look at as it's sort of dingy looking. Once you step inside you realise you're in a quality hotel. The room we stayed in wasn't huge but it was comfortable for the time we spent there. For me, the main selling point of the hotel was its service. You see, we had problems with our bags not arriving with us from Germany. Austrian Airlines has several flights a day so we were told they'd be on one of these later flights. We 1st got to the hotel about 2p and our bags hadn't reached by 6p, 9p or even 1a. Each time though the hotel staff were kind enough to call the airline and follow up for us. When the bags did arrive (at 6:30a!) we got a call from the front desk to say so. My only quibble was that 10 mins later someone came up with the bags. To be honest I was really trying to get some sleep so wasn't too happy about being woken up twice. But there was no way they would know that. Overall I would recommend this hotel. Easy links from the airport and into the city centre and the service is good.
