I visited this hotel in 1979 on my honeymoon. I stayed there for a whole week and it was incredible, being only a 3 star hotel. It was worth the price we paid for it. The receptionist helped us out very well and even gave us a catalogue of all the tours available. We visited the Alps and the coach collected us from the hotel doorstep. The breakfast was beautiful, it was continental but the variety of rolls, croisants, cheeses, pate was enormous - it was like a banquet. I hope to go again to Vienna and I will definitely stay in the Kummer again. It is very near the shopping centre and within walking distance of all the museums and historical buildings. The windows were double-glazed so you could not hear a pin drop. The room was enormous with a huge bed. I would recommend it to all although bear in mind that when I visited it was 28 years ago but I don't see why it should have changed.

We had a corner room. The room was lovely with a bed, settee, coffee table, & 2 side chairs, plus a desk. Hotel had available @ 20.00 euros internet access cable. Quite pricey considering Venere's rate. Amenities in bathroom were quite nice and bathroom was spotless. Guest room furnishing looked a little dated but in good condition. In middle of the night (around 3:00 AM) there were people on the street talking very loudly across the street from the hotel. As it was warm we had windows open. Hadn't thought to remove the duvet from the coverlet. This would have save us having to leave the windows open and listening to the very loud conversations in the middle of the night.

As travelers relying on public transportation, we loved that this was right at a metro station entrance in a nice business section of town (we frequented the Gelateria across the street - yum). Yet, you can walk down to museums and the Opera House in about 20 - 30 minutes. While the streets were busy later in the day - our room was away from it and VERY quiet. The bed was long enough for us (we're both over 6 feet tall) and the bathroom was not cramped - included a full tub (with just a half shower door, huh?). It serves an ample breakfast with marvelous variety of protiens, grains, fruits, and dairy. Probably one of the best on our trip. The staff is very polite and handles the many guests very well.

This hotel was one of the most satisfying I have usedd recently. It is somewhat dated but charming and very clean. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the breakfast was tremendous and the location was perfect. I intend returning to Vienna in October and will definitely seek out this hotel.
