Posted: Sep 19, 2004 - member - It was the guest house of Emperor Franz Josef and, where the rooms have not been renovated, you can stil get the feel of the elegance of that time. I nearly always stayed in room 379 which is, I will admit, showing its age and, if they have not already done so, wil probably be receiving the Austria Trend renovation. I loved the former ballroom (now restaurant) with its magnificent chandeliers and the elegant public rooms. Yes, breakfast was a bit chaotic and occasionaly hit and miss but the friendly staff and the unique charm of this place kept me going back time and again.. Read review

It is only a 10-15 minute subway ride to the city center and museums. The public transportation is excellent and the subway trams arrive usually every five minutes.. Read review

The great benifit of this hotel is free internet access from the computer at the front desk and good food. It it less than 5 min walk to the metro station which will get you to the city center in 15 min.. Read review
