We stayed here for two nights as a base for the women's pre wimbledon tennis tournament. We knew the hotel was undergoing some renovations and asked for a room that wouldn't be affected by the scaffolding.
We had a side sea view room on the fourth floor with a great balcony which overlooked the band stand. The room was a good size and access to the balcony made it feel even more spacious.
Unfortunately the bathroom was cramped in comparison and perhaps would have benefited from stealing some space from the bedroom.
The lobby and public areas looked like they had recently been refurbished. The bar and seating area were great - modern but not too trendy for the Eastbourne market! The room was fine but perhaps a little too patterned for our tastes. The TV was rather too small for the size of the room and reception was poor so watching the football was best done on the plasma in the bar.
Breakfast was more than adequte but nothing special. Good if you got things when they were first brought out but as with all buffets food dries up on the hot-plates.
Staff were generally friendly and the reception staff were happy to recommend and advise about parking (hotel car park was full) and restaurants.
Not bad for the money during a peak week in Eastbourne even saw Virginia Wade in the lift and surely she must know where to stay in Eastbourne for the tennis!

We booked a 2 night break at the Cavendish Hotel to relax for a few days. Having read mixed reviews on Trip Advisor we were a little sceptical. However, we really needn't have worried!!
We arrived to find adequate parking at the rear of the hotel (always a bonus on the seafront!). The reception and bar area of the hotel was nothing short of beautiful!! I think it has been recently refurbished.
The rooms were very clean and a good size, with the usual facilities... Tea, coffee, mineral water, toiletries, hairdryer (take your own!), trouser press. Lots of wardrobe and drawer space.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
Breakfast - buffet style. 7am - 10am so plenty of time for a lay in!
Plenty of choice: full english and continental, that was replenished regularly.
My only slightly negative comment would be the noise at night. It wasn't a problem for us, but you could hear the performances from the bandstand opposite quite clearly. There was also some noise from the street when the pubs closed. However, our 14 month old slept through it, so it can't have been that bad...
In summary, great hotel! Very enjoyable stay! Would have liked to stay longer!
