We were going to newcastle for a hen night and booked the caledonian for one night. upon arrival we sort of invaded someones wedding reception and they had the bride getting her photographs taken on the stairs in the reception which obviously made her feel uncomfortable as well as us! the staff were friendly and helpful and all seemed good. we were told upon arrival that we had to pay an extra ?25 each as a deposit for the room which we would get back the next day once our rooms had been inspected (was like being back at uni) but this ?25 took a lump out of our spends for the night. When we got to our rooms which we had paid ?80 for they were very dated and had the ugliest carpet ever but this was irrelevant to us. the rooms were spacious and clean but very cold as the windows had slats at the top which did not close fully. the bathroom was ok but the toilet didnt flush, the shelf was wedged onto the wall with some toilet roll and there was no cold water, just boiling hot water which scolded so made showering/brushing teeth etc impossible. some of the girls rang reception about the problem with the toilet and the taps and were brought 2 small bottles of water to flush the toilet with which didnt do much. breakfast was ok although there wasnt much choice and not alot of it. although there are probably worse hotels than this it wasnt worth what it cost. it would be ok for hen/stag parties but i would not go there with family or as a couple and certainly wouldnt get married there to have my wedding interupted by stags and hens!

Extremely rude towards us ,we werent loud or unruly in any way yet the way we treated was a joke . We checked in was told our rooms would be ready at 14.00pm we didnt get our rooms till 16.30pm there was no sorry for the wait no appalage at all we had 3 rooms every room at a fault with it . 2 of the rooms the showers werent working and the other the toilet was blocked , and as for the food disgusting isnt the word its , served cold uncooked . If you like service without a smile, no please ,no thank you , extremely rude staff, rubbish food, a room where nothing works and the staff dont care to fix it and to be hated from the word go if your from anywhere but newcastle then the CALEDONIAN HOTEL OSBORNE ROAD JESMOND is the one for you
