Bw Hotel Harmonie - Vienna, Austria 

I do not know how an independent traveler could have hard time finding this hotel! It is a 50 meter walk off the "D" tram. The hotel is a short walk from the Liechtenstein Museum, and that provides a handy landmark for finding it the first time. We came into Vienna at the Westerbanhof and sprung the 11 euro for a cab. Since this was part of a 2 week trip, we did not want to fight with the luggage. The "D" tram is direct to the Sudenbanhof, so we used it for the train to Prague. There is a Centermeter restaurant right by the tram stop. The restaurant has reasonably priced food. When we return to Vienna we will use this hotel again. The issue with no AC did not affect us since we just showered at the end of the day, closed the shutters, opened the windows and ran the fan. For those who remember the “dark days” before home AC it is not a bad night’s sleep. The household staff were- well Austrian. Proper, amenable, but they are not candidates for the Mother Theresa award. IMHO- For the price of the room, the access to real-Vienna food, and the charm of a small hotel- I will deal with the staff.

The afternoon front desk person was rude and not helpful. Don't expect a lot of help with directions / attractions, etc. No A/C in room. Hotel location was tough to find. Recommend spending a bit more for a mainstream hotel closer to the circle.
