Kummer 'Austria Hotels International' - Vienna, Austria     

Although check in is at 2pm, we arrive 7am and they gave us our room immediately which was a very big help - if not they have a luggage room. Excellently located on the main shopping street right next door to the Uban (we thought this was the most perfect location). Easy to get to from the airport. Superior Room booked through Expedia was very spacious. Airconditioning in room (have read previous reviews that there wasn't but they have added this now). Bathroom looked new - powershower, clean, modern white look. furniture and decor not our personal taste (we like modern) but that is a taste thing and if you like classical style furniture you will like it. The staff behind the desk were incredibly polite, friendly and helpful. 15 minutes to walk to St Stephens catherdral and Museum Quarter is a ten minute walk down the shopping street.

Rooms are incredibly small for price even for a European hotel. Hotels.com significantly oversold the room size and amenities. For example: the debroom door actually touched the bed which was pushed up against the wall. Room was clean and halls (other guests) are easily heard at night. Breakfast buffet provides OK choice (continental style) and food quality is merely OK. Dinner was OK; not great food. Service is moderate to weak. Location next to Metro is good, but for the best shopping/walking around experience you will travel to inside the "ring" in the city center. There are other 4 star hotels inside the city center for the same pricing. The Mariahilfer shopping isn't as compelling as the shopping in the city center.
