Great family run hotel the staff and owners could not have been more helpful. The setting is lovely ,the distance to airport or centre very convinient with regular bus leaving outside hotel. The owner even arranged for staff to come in early on uor last morning so we could have our breakfast half an hour earlier as we had an early flight.

We (three adults) had two rooms at the Kamml for two nights. For my friends who live in the States, it was part of their first trip to Europe. I chose this hotel because their website indicated it was in a quiet, country atmosphere, and I thought that was preferable to a noisy, city hotel. Silly me: we would have gotten more sleep in the Salzburg train station. The hotel's bar turns into an outdoor patio in the summer, and so the patrons are easily heard even from the second-floor rooms (the highest floor). These people were not quiet either night: loud, raucous people. I usually can sleep through anything, but I never could get to sleep before 3 AM either night. The bar was serving until at least 2 AM every night. We complained and switched rooms after the first night, but it made no difference.
I should also mention that, despite the hotel's claim of being a country inn, it in fact is located right next door to the Salzburg Airport. You can watch takeoffs and landings directly from the hotel pool (more on this below.) This simply adds to the noise pollution here.
Additionally, because the hotel has no air conditioning, you face the dilemma of opening the windows at night (and listening to the bar patrons) or not (and sweltering in the heat.) Oh, and bring insect repellent: the mosquitoes will eat you alive at night.
The hotel is extremely difficult to reach by car. We used our GPS system, but because of recent road construction and road changes, the GPS couldn't locate the place. First time that has ever happened.
The hotel does have a very nice, though small, pool. However, it is not suitable for young children, as the shallowest part is four feet deep (deepest part is only five feet.) It is not heated: very cold when we were there. Uncomfortably so.
The restaurant is, like most European ones, extremely smoky. The food is OK, though pricey. The breakfast buffet is good for Europeans (heavy on cold cuts and bread) but less than satisfactory for North Americans. Very few choices beyond bread, rolls, meat and cheese.
Overall, I would say that the hotel is very overpriced for what you get. It is hardly worth an extended visit, as you will sleep very little, and is too hard to find for a short stay. Salzburg has many very nice (and quiet) hotels in the city: stay there instead.
