I spent 4 nights in this hotel and was very pleased with it.
Location: The hotel is only a 5 minute walk away from the old town. As the hotel is located on the other side of Monchsberg hill, when walking to the Old Town you have to go through a tunnel in the hill. However the tunnel was very safe to walk through even late at night.
There is also a bus and trolley bus stop on the road just a few metres from the hotel. Bus number 1 stops at this stop. It passes around the edge of the Old Town and also goes over the river to where Mirabell Gardens are located.
A taxi from the hotel to the airport takes less than 10 minutes and costs about 9 Euros
Rooms: We had 2 rooms, one double and one single. It was 79 Euros per night for the double and 59 Euros per night for the single. This doesn't include breakfast which is an extra 10 Euros per day. The price of the rooms was decent for Salzburg.
Both rooms were located in a building which is separate from and located at the back of the main hotel building. A covered walkway connects the 2 parts of the hotel. Both rooms were quite big. Neither room had any coffee and tea making faciities nor mini bar. They did however have a flat screen TV.
Each room opened out onto a patio area on which sun loungers were located. The doors opening out onto this area were glass but were double glazed. Indeed at night time the rooms were very quiet with absolutely no street noise or any other type of noise
The rooms were clean and indeed were cleaned each day. Wired internet conncetions appeared to be available in the rooms.
The ensuite consisted of a shower but no bath. Again it was clean and of reasonable size.
Breakfast: Breakfast was 10 Euros per day which is quite expensive. However the breakfast was good with a wide selction of food available. It worked on a buffet basis. A selection of cereals, cold meats, cheese's, bread, fruit juice, tea and coffee, fruit and yougurt were available.
Facilities: A computer with a free internet connection was located in the reception area. A printer was also available beside the computer.
The hotel has a very small bar area incorporated into the reception area. Each drink at the bar appears to be 2.50 Euros.
Staff: All the staff were friendly, efficient and helpful.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

We stayed in Star Inn Hotel Zentrum for two nights in May 2008. The hotel was professionally run with staff speaking excellent English.
The hotel was new with very modern decor and had the feel of a business hotel. We booked a standard double room but for some reason it was not available and we were upgraded to an executive room with no extra charge. The room was spotlessly clean, and although it was street-facing, with the double-glazed windows, the street noise was well muffled. Common with most European hotels, there was no tea/coffee making facility in the room, but hot drinks could be purchased at the reception desk/lobby.
The location is excellent – about 5-10 mins to the old town and there is a supermarket nearby, which opens six days a week (everything shuts on Sunday, including most of the tourist shops). We arrived by train and took a taxi to the hotel – it cost 8 euros.
Breakfast at 10 euro per person is not cheap but we did find it quite good – a wide variety of options were offered, fruit, cold meat, eggs, cereals, bread rolls, coffee, tea etc. A good start to a day.
A bonus is the free PC terminal (equipped with a printer) at the lobby, with free internet access. I was able to search/print out bus/train timetables for my next destination. The Chinese restaurant just across the road is also a plus.
My only quibble is the lack of a mini-bar in the room, which would have been very handy on hot summer days.
