Van der Valk Hotel De Biltsche Hoek - De Bilt, Netherlands 

We stay regularly at his property when visiting from Hawaii because of its proximity to our family. The hotel is located a few miles outside of Utrecht near the small town of De Bilt. Shops at a walking distance of 1/2 - 1 mile, nice walk too. Average price is 80-100 Euros for 2, including breakfast. Larger family rooms are available and not much more expensive. Check out their specials: they may well include dinner for only a few euros more! Check-in is casual and friendly, sometimes a short wait. Parking is free and plentiful, a rare commodity in this area. Mid size, clean, indoor pool The rooms are fairly large, clean and quiet. As in many European hotels, the "king bed" consists of two twins put together. Black out curtains. Not much closet space. Large bathrooms, basic but clean, most with bath and separate shower.Ask for a room on 2nd floor at the back of the hotel: quiet. Plentiful breakfast. Restaurant is ok, usually very busy on weekends. Nice big outdoor restaurant in summer. All in all: decent , affordable place to stay, also with kids, right in the center of Holland.
