Limes Hotel - York, United Kingdom 

I had never been to York before and this was a surprise birthday present from my husband. We found the Limes Guesthouse by accident using Google and were lucky enough to get their last room. The Limes is a family run guesthouse 15 minutes walk from the racecourse, Outlet centre and the centre of York. From the moment we pulled up,we were made to feel part of their family. The landlady helped my husband make the weekend even more special by arranging for flowers, wine and chocolates to be in our room on my arrival and gave us lots of information on what was happening in York while we were there. The main event was the John Smiths challange at the Racecourse which was a must to see we were told, We went and had an absolutely brilliant day and even had a winning flutter. We would highly recommend the Limes to anyone who is visiting York, Thank you from Trev and Trina - Cumbria

We looked up the Limes on TripAdvisor and phoned up and booked a long Easter weekend as a result - we saved ?5 per night by phoning them direct rather than book online through various accommodation websites. We found the entire family absolutely charming, very friendly, accommodating and always available with some advice. The hotel was very well appointed with attention to detail and meticulously clean. There was a good deal of choice for breakfast which set us up for the day. The bar was a lovely place to return to at the end of the day, with partcular mention to the fire which warmed us up a treat when the weather wasn't so good. With its cosy atmosphere and convivial service, it is clear to see why The Limes has been awarded their Silver Award. We will certainly be back if we return to York.
