I booked this hotel because it had a well-recommended spa and was not too far to drive on a Friday evening. The old part of the hotel is nice but the garden rooms are really just an up-market Travelodge. They are 1960's two storey buildings with small balconies - the furniture and decor were quite nice, the bathroom well equipped but paying ?198 per night B&B was way over the top and this is the reason why I will not return. Food was excellent in both the french bistro and the main hotel restuarant, the staff all seemed pleasant enough and the spa was excellent but I cannot get over the cost of the room........

Stayed at Careys Manor for two nights in July. The old part of the hotel we only briefly walked through when arriving, as our room was in the garden view annex. The staff are incredibly polite and friendly. I'm not sure what the rooms are like in the main house, in the garden view annex they are roomy, with large beds, the bathroom was clean, not tremenously large - overall, I felt the room just a teeny bit "travel lodge" with very ikea type furniture and no real character and I think a little overpriced for what they are. The hotel was full on both nights we stayed, Sat and Sun and we did have a great time, just were everso slightly disappointed with the room when we initially checked in. Check out the Senspa though - fantastic treatments, great service - as was the service from the hotel itself, but the spa is great. We ate both nights in the french bistro on site and the food was great, again Careys Manor seems to have a whole host of friendly and helpful staff working in all areas of the site. It was a great stay, and my only very slight niggle was that the room was quite ordinary for the price, however, still had a great time.
