Stayed at Loch Lomond for the Barclays Open Golf. Accommodation link from Barclays Open Golf web site led me to this hotel. Reception staff welcoming and friendly. Room 34 good size, the only positive, negatives include TV intermittent sound, tissue (not mine) just under bed just for the entire stay. If I could see this without kneeling down why couldn't housekeeping? Bathroom needed thorough clean, soapdish showed congealed soap underneath, visible when taking bath, shower curtain stained, woodwork dirty. All fittings and furniture dated. At dinner I ordered Dover Sole on the bone, it was delivered to me off the bone, I sent it back, it was returned in it's original state but this time a bone had been placed between fillets (original bone plucked from garbage?) This dining experience did not meet with the brochure Dining page. I have written to Scottish Tourist Board outlining my disappointment with this Hotel and copied in my email to Barclays. It was a premium package with a third rate delivery.

Attending wedding at Winnock Hotel in Drymen, unfortunately no vacancies. Reception area and all staff at Buchanan Arms very pleasant, totally relaxes you for the 'pleasures' of room 49. Wallpaper peeling off the walls, handles missing on furniture, ancient headboard and a breakfast in your room card hanging on the door that looked as if it had fallen in the bath and was filled in by a previous guest on 5 May year unknown. The bathroom! Sanitary ware is bright yellow and judging by the dubious green marks behind the toilet lid was once avocado and painted. The shower head is ancient and leaking, the sink has various chips, two ceramic (0f course yellow) toothbrush holders have been screwed very unevenly to the wall with enormous screws. Some attempt had been made to put white ceramic tiles on the floor unfortunately they have not been laid properly and are about to crack as they move when you walk on them. Glad to get home for another shower. Breakfast was acceptable but not fantastic. Hot food kept warm in large containers and the rolls seemed to have been made when the bathroom was installed, the toast was limp - looked as if it had been steamed not toasted. Fresh fruit consisted of a tiny basket containing one orange, perhaps two apples, a plum and some grapes. The hotel have a great team, update the facilities - what an embarrassment to put foreign tourists in room 49 and from what we could see of other rooms on our floor - any room!
