Flair Hotel Scherer - Salzburg, Austria     

Along the Salzach river you can start a nice walking tour through the centre. Within 20 minutes' walking distance you reach the Markart Steg (a small bridge for pedestrians only). You cross the Salzach river and enter the Getreidegasse, the sustained street of the medieval free city, which counts today as the most important shopping street in Mozart's city and is frequented by countless tourists.

At No. 9 Getreidegasse, on 27 January 1756, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the famous composer, was born. Follow the Getreidegasse to the left and you'll reach Alter Markt, Waagplatz and Mozartplatz.

Alternatively, a walk in the "new town" will bring you, within 10 minutes, to the famous Mirabellgarten. The garden displays to its visitors a colourful world of flowers and sculptures. Then you continue your walk to the Makartplatz (you pass the congress centre about 700 metres from the Hotel Scherer). This square is dominated by the Dreifaltigkeitskirche (Church of the Holy Trinity) and the Salzburger Landestheater (Salzburg Provincial Theatre). To the left you'll see Mozart's residence. The Mozart family lived there from 1773 to 1787 after the little apartment on Getreidegasse became too small. Walking time from the hotel is about 15 to 20 minutes.

Activities:

- Hiking and jogging on the promenade of the river Salzach.
- Cycling: bike rental at the hotel. Follow the Tauernradweg (bike path) to the south.
- Fitness: within 20 minutes' walking distance, you can reach the fitness centre Vita Club.
- Golf: the next golf course is about 7 kilometres away at Kleßheim.
- Tennis: the next tennis court (indoor and outdoor) is about 8 kilometres away.
- Swimming: an indoor pool is approx. 600 metres away (sauna and mudpacks are available).

There are also many lakes in the surrounding area (20 minutes by car).

The city offers you a wide range of cultural activities throughout the year, including museums, exhibitions, galleries, concerts, readings and the Salzburg festivals (Easter, Pentecost, summer).
