We stayed at the Estherea as a birthday treat and stayed for 3 nights over a weekend. We can only echo what other visitors have said, peaceful, quiet, clean and ideally situated for all the many places in Amsterdam that a visitor would wish to see.
All staff were attentive and eager to please from check in to check out, an approach which will secure a return visit from us.
We stayed in room 210 which overlooked the Singel canal and how pleasing it was to sleep with an open window in a busy city, there are not many city hotels in which that is possible. The room was a good size with all facilities that we needed and cleaned to a high standard every day.
Like some of the other visitors we decided to breakfast out and found a lot of choice alongside the floating flower market which is less than a five minute walk and at a very reasonable cost.
On entering our room I was pleasantly surprised to find a birthday card and generous gift from the family who own the hotel.
Would I recommend the Estherea? Of course I would !!

We LOVED the Hotel Estherea. My husband and I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and found it to be wonderful. It was in a great location - about a 5 minute walk to Dam Square and about 20 mins to the Anne Frank House and Central Station.
The staff was always approachable and helpful. They booked tickets for us for the Anne Frank house, in order to skip over the very very long line. I highly suggest doing this. We got our tickets at the hotel front desk, and skipped an hour long line to walk straight into the museum. The tickets were the same price as buying them directly at the Anne Frank House. The staff also provided us with free ponchos and use of umbrellas during the rainy days.
If coffee shops are on your agenda, there are many places near the hotel to check out. There are 2 shops within a 3-5 minute walk and dozens more within a 5-15 minute walk.
The free cookies/pastries/coffee/tea/hot chocolate in the lobby was a great perk. We saved quite a few Euros by snacking at the hotel instead of at a cafe!
Breakfast is 16 Euro per person, which is quite pricey. We peeked into the breakfast room one morning to see what we were missing and we were not missing much. We opted out of breakfast and went to a small bakery on the corner. We each ate breakfast for 5 Euro there - a much better choice than the 16 Euro option!
We ate dinner one night at Caprese - the Italian restaurant on the street behind the hotel with the yellow and white awning. It was inexpensive, compared to many other restaurants in the area and it was absolutely delicious.
Our room was wonderful. The bed was ok - not the best, but certainly not the worst. My only complaint in the room was the hair dryer. It was very weak and semi-broken. (I had to hold down the "on" button constantly or else the dryer would turn off.) Other than that, the room was great!
I would certainly put this hotel in a 4 star class - not a 3 star, as listed. I have stayed in many 3, 4, and 5 star properties - and this is certainly a 4 star, considering all of its amenities.
