Hotel Continental - Biel, Switzerland 

I stayed at this hotel in late 02, so hopefully it's been renovated since then. The location is fine and I don't mind basic hotels, but the main problem I had was that the room was very out dated, and dirty. Thankfully the bedsheets were clean, but the bedspread (had some holes in it) and floor were extremely dirty (stained and unhoovered). I was only staying for two nights for work, so I could put up with it, as it really was just a bed for the night. But I'm afraid I couldn't recommend this place -

I stayed in the Continental in Biel-Bienne in March 2004 and, although the hotel seen from the outside is nothing special (a modern building), I really was delighted by the excellent service and the nice atmosphere inside. Staff at the reception desk is extremely friendly (e.g., a voucher for a free welcome drink at the hotel bar is given to you upon arrival), rooms are large and well equipped (including free tea and coffee making facilities, a feature not too common in Central European hotels), there is a business corner with free internet access, an ample free closed parking area on the back side of the hotel (important in Biel-Bienne where parking is not easy in the downtown area), and the breakfast, being a self-service buffet in the hotel's restaurant, was really great! The hotel is near to the train station (just about 300 m away), and the city center is easy to reach either by walking (10 min) or by taking an urban bus line that stops right in front of the hotel. Prices are around 100 Swiss Francs for a single and 150 for a double but I booked at a lower rate through the internet.
