I booked a 2 night stay for 2 with dinner on one night for less than ?170 which I thought was great value. The service from all the staff was very good. The room (twin) was spacious, well equipped with a big modern bathroom. The 3 course meal in the main restaurant was excellent and we also ate in the bar which was done up beautifully and was very relaxing with equally good food. The spa was good, not as fancy as some places but I didn't expect it with the price.
The only real dissapointment was that my friends car had an attempted break in, in the short period of time we left it from checking in and going to collect our bags. This is definately something to be aware of if you are staying here as the police said it has been a problem there.

Recently stayed here for a wedding reception being held at the hotel. Paid ?69 for room only,
Check-in wasn't guaranteed until 3pm but we turned up early on the off chance of getting in early - this didnt happen and the recption staff were extremely unhelpful. Apparently according to the desk, when you book you're assigned a specific room and this cannot be changed. She also made no effort to ask housekeeping to move our room 'up the list' of ones being readied for new guests as we were the only ones there waiting for early check in. A poor effort.
The hotel itself is set in nice grounds and is nice inside although a bit of a rabbit warren. The room was standard apart from two tiny windows that wouldn't open more than a couple of centimetres, and it was like a sauna. No air conditioning although there was a small desk fan...this led to a really uncomfortable, sticky night. It was May and had been about 20 degrees during the day so not exactly heatwave weather!
The shower was appaling, a dribble at best, but it was hot.
Breakfast wasn't included in the rate and we couldn't briong ourselves to shell out ?15 each for something to eat. Shrewsbury is a couple of miles away and offers plenty of nice cafes to get you started.
Overall, the hotel was comfortable but was let down in some areas with some staff who shouldn't be in the service industry.
I wouldnt give it 4 stars.
