I'm actually writing the review from the hotel itself! As this was my first visit to Riga I didn't really know what to expect and the hotel really impressed me.
The check-in process was efficient and fast, and the in general the staff were very nice and knew excellent English which helped quite a bit!
As far as the location of the hotel goes, you really cannot ask anymore from it - it's located to the south-east of most of the main attractions in the Old Town, in fact when I stayed here we didn't use the tram once and traveled everywhere by foot! It's next to the Central Market, Central Train Station and a shopping mall as well.
Serviceswise, it was also good - the rooms were clean, and even though they were facing traffic and when we were here there was only 4 (!) hours of darkness, the curtains blocked most of the light and I think they have a double-glass window so you'll barely notice the noise.
All in all it was a fantastic stay and I would defintaely recommend it to anyone looking for tourism in Riga.

The Metropole is good value! Excellent location for Old Town, Opera, Markets, Cinema, Bus Station and just a short walk to the Occupation Museum (which was really interesting.) The hotel staff were very efficient, helpful and spoke good English. Beautiful stained glass windows on the stairs. Loved the late breakfast on Sunday til 11am! We hate rushing down to catch breakfast but this was really relaxing! Good selection at breakfast, room very spacious, warm, clean and comfortable. Personally I like a bath with bubbles up to my ears, but only had a shower in our room. Heyho! I'm not complaining as we had a great stay and would definitely go back to the Metropole. Loved it!
