Becher - Venice, Italy     

We have just returned from a long weekend at Hotel Becher in Venice. We arrived late in the evening, but found the hotel easily following the directions on their web site. Our room was small, but perfectly finished and immaculately clean. The breakfast room was as lovely as all other review described and the food was fresh and lovely. It is a treat to have fresh coffee made for you, and to look out over the canal. We found the location of the Becher perfect for the exploring the whole of Venice, especially as it was very close to the Rialto bridge. For anyone looking for some simple yet absolutely delicious food, there is a small Osteria called Vivaldi on the far side of the Rialto bridge, which served perhaps some of the best food I have ever had. This Osteria is written up in most of the main tourist books, but wasn't busy, so it is definitely worth hunting out. I can also recommend hunting out some of the quieter area such as Dorsoduro and Zattere, and also head up to Cannaregio for a different view of Venice. I loved Venice so much and hope to visit again soon. I would not hesitate to stay at Hotel Becher again, and would highly recommend it to anyone heading to Venice.

This hotel is in a great location in Venice, close to San Marco Piazza and 5 mins walk from pretty much everything in Venice. We had a triple room - a bit on the small side, but as you expect in Europe. Very clean, air-conditioned and good facilities. Staff are superb, very friendly and helpful. We paid Euro 260 for triple room in high season, and considered that a good rate. We caught the standard ferry from the airport on arrival, and took the water taxi back as we had an early flight. The water taxi was expensive, Euro 110 for 3 people (Ferry is 10 per person) - BUT it was a great trip, saw lots of canals, etc - better than taking a gondola ride.
