Grand Hotel & La Pace - Montecatini Terme, Italy     

I spent a whole week at La Pace last August with my family ,two children, my husband and myself. I chose the Grand hotel La Pace in Montecatini Terme for the central position in Tuscany, because I wanted to visit the art cities of Lucca, Firenze and Pisa. The hotel is wonderful; it is an unbelievable building of the 1900 surronded by its own park. We spent a lot of time laying by the pool in the middle of the park, used the spa facilites, and enjoyed the food of the pool restaurant. We want to go back to La Pace also because of the staff: the people who work at this hotel are smiling efficent and very polite.

We stayed for four nights towards the end of the season and were disappointed by this hotel. Considering it was a leading hotel, it was the lowest quality one we have stayed in and, for once, the lhw badge was not a mark of quality. The whole hotel was run down and could do with a good clean, the room was average and equal to a hotel of a third of the price. All the carpets were worn out and I believe the hotel was living on a reputation that was long gone and was populated mostly by bus trips. This isn't what we expected.
