We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in August 2007. The room was not large, but adequate and was clean and well maintained. The bathroom was nice, and again clean. We did have an issue with ants in the room, which was unpleasant but I don't feel this is something the hotel can be blamed for - it's just one of those things in a hot country.
The pool was attractive and clean and there were plenty of loungers. You have to pay a small fee (around 3 euros per person) for a towel and lounger cushion, which I did feel was unusual.
The hotel was very quiet when we were there, but it really came into its own at night. The main building is very old, and through thoughful spotlights & candles strategically placed in alcoves etc, it was stunning at night. They have a lot of wicker & white linen chairs situated in the grounds, and it was really relaxing to enjoy a glass of wine from their very well stocked cellar, in the garden at night.
The hotel is in the middle of no-where, but if you have a car then this is not an issue.
The hotel restaurant itself is not great. We ate there one night and they were having a 'Tuscany Buffet', and though it was not late (about 7pm) the food had gotten cold and rubbery. I think it would have been nice if it was fresh and still hot. They were also very reluctant to replenish when items ran out. That meal was very disappointing, as I was expecting Italy to be a real gastronomic delight, and in reality I have eaten nicer food in Ask!!
That aside, we enjoyed our stay, and if we ever had to go back to the area, we would probably consider the hotel again.
