Located in the historical centre of Florence near the San Marco Square, Accademia (David) museum and 5 minutes from the central railway station S.M.N. and il Duomo. The hotel is also rather close to the Fortezza da Basso and the Palazzo dei Congressi where the most important exhibitions and congresses take place. I booked a room at the Hotel Souvenir through [--] on 17th May 2006. Upon arriving at the hotel the staff looked at my booking confirmation (printed at the time of booking) but couldn’t find me a room to stay in. After waiting in the hotel foyer for around 90 minutes the staff tried to take payment for the room in cash. Thinking that it was odd to reserve a room using my card and be asked to pay in cash, and as I still had not been given a room, I did not pay. The hotel staff disappeared again for around 20 minutes and eventually I decided to leave and find somewhere else to stay. I did not stay at the hotel, and it was entirely their fault, yet they still charged me! Not impressed...
