Sarphati Hotel Amsterdam - Amsterdam, Netherlands     

I searched for a long time to find a hotel in Amsterdam that suited our budget and had excellent reviews. This one certainly fitted the bill on paper. The hotel is in an excellent location and is situated opposite Sarphati Park which is lovely and makes for a good view from your window. It's also within walking distance of the daily markets, museums and myriad of restaurants. The Greek restaurant just along the road is great, no frills, just good traditional greek cooking at very reasonable prices. The rooms were spotless with clean sheets and towels. The bathrooms are small but they are clean and have everything you need. The owner is very friendly and gave us loads of advice, telling us where all the best places were and how to get there. The number 25 tram runs from central station and stops right outside the hotel which is superb! The breakfast was excellent and all in all, our stay was far better than we expected. Only thing to look out for is the stairs, never seen such steep stairs in all my life! but apparently that is common in Amsterdam. Makes for an interesting challenge when you've had a few beers etc! : 0 )

If you are looking for great value then book here. Very clean, good breakfast, great location , comfy beds, clean bedding and fresh towels every day & the owner (William) bends over backwards to ensure your every need is catered for. Would visit again and I highly recommend. A1 for service *******
