Having read all the other reviews about this hotel I was expecting to find a really nice hotel and overall it was a really nice hotel but I didn't feel that it was anything special. I was disappointed with the room which was smaller than I was expecting and didn't have a great bathroom or balcony. The breakfast was also nothing great - it was functional but didn't have any hot items, the best part about it was the cappuccino! I have definitely stayed in better hotels with the same star rating. Having said all that it was very clean and all the staff were friendly. It has a really well appointed bar with a terrace overlooking the sea which did a nice lunch and drinks at a reasonable price. The location was perhaps the best part as it was absolutely fantastic. Right on the beach with it's own section of sun loungers, each had a room number against it so there was no fear of getting up late and finding that they were all taken. Aside from the hotel Sperlonga was really lovely and I would highly recommend it. The old town is perfect for the evenings and there were loads of nice restaurants doing fresh seafood and other specialities. The whole place had a nice feel to it - Children running around really late into the evening enjoying themselves and all the locals were friendly. There were also plenty of bars doing cocktails so was good to stay out after finishing a meal. We caught the train from Rome and found it to be very easy - we got lucky with the local bus as it turned up just as our train arrived but I believe they run roughly every hour. The one and only problem we had whilst we were there was finding a cash machine that would give us our money! We tried 3 in the old town and they all gave a message saying no link or something and we also met another English couple who had the same problem. We finally found one that worked hidden away (head away from the old town from Aurora and it's about the 3rd turning on the right, on the same street as Hotel Mayor). All in all it was a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday so I have given the experience 4*.

Maria is a life saver!!! We arrived in Italy on an Italian holiday and were unable to rent our car as we had planned as all the rental agencies were closed !!! I called Maria in a panic as we were 2 1/2 hours away, and she calmly walked me through how to get to Sperlonga from finding the train station, to telling me which trains to board, make a train change and finally sending a car to pick us up at the Fondi/Sperlonga train station at 11 PM......clearly she went above and beyond the call of duty!!! So...already we loved Hotel Aurora! When we arrived into town the place was still jumping....especially a fun little restaurant right next door - Tropico or Tropicana (sp)...you'll see it! Anyway - the hotel is in a PERFECT location...right on the beach in the center of town, with amazing beach views and with great access to 'high' town!!! The rooms are nothing much....but the overall experience is lovely!!! The breakfast was well equipped and the staff was friendly and helpful! As I write this ...the Trip Advisor rating is #1...and I completely agree!!!!
