La Locanda Delle Donne Monache - Maratea, Italy     

La Locanda delle Donne Monache was the best surprise of our driving tour of Southern Italy. We found it while looking for a convenient location between Rome and Reggio Calabria and booked for one night only. But we had stumbled on a little piece of paradise! The hotel is a converted convent which has just been elegantly refurbished by the new owners. It is immaculate, stylish and comfortable with all the conveniences you would expect from a modern hotel, The staff were warm and friendly and anxious to please. The views from the terrace of hills and the lovely town of Maratea made us feel we were in our own private resort. On meeting the owner we realised that it was his affection for the hotel that was reflected in the attention to detail and the enthusiasm of the new management. Thank you Vincenza for your hospitality! Next time we will stay much longer.

This hotel was recommended to me by an English couple and it certainly didn't disappoint. I stayed at the Locanda for two weeks in September and had the most wonderful holiday thanks to the gorgeous surroundings and amazing staff at this hotel. Maratea is approx 2 hours drive from Naples airport so car hire is recommended as there are so many places to see and things to do around Maratea itself. The hotel is in the historic area of Maratea and the views are stunning. The food at the hotel is worth the drive alone. Staff couldn't do enough for us and made our stay one of the most memorable and relaxing holidays we've ever had. I would definitely recommend this hotel and plan to return myself in the not too distant future. Nidema
