I must say I was somewhat apprehensive about going to Adriatic hotel after reading all the reviews. I have to say I found nothing at all to complain about. It's a 2 star hotel - so you can't expect 5 star treatment. The check in process was easy and quick, the 2 receptionists were joking and laughing (they like the Irish over there very much - I think they consider themselves to be like us, a bit of an underdog who had to fight for freedom) Anyway there was no lift, but the stairs are shallow and easy. The rooms - 2 single rooms, facing the front were spotlessly clean, looked like they were recently done up and had all you need - nice spotless en suite bathroom with great water pressure, air con, satellite tv, blackout curtains and of course bed. We opted for B & B and we're glad we didn't go for half board - the breakfast was ok but the scrambled egg was awful. The dining hall is definitely a relic of the Soviet era, and I wouldn't bother with the dinner. La Pad itself is a bit quiet but the bus stop is outside the door which takes you into Dubrovnik in no time. The receptionists were a great help and we figured that to do the 2 or 3 excursions we wanted would cost more than to hire a car for 3 days, so we hired a car through the hotel and drove to Medjegorje in Bosnia and another day, down to Montenegro. On day 3 we went to the nearby resort of Cavtat which is a little piece of heaven on earth. All in all, we had a great holiday in Dubrovnik - it's a bit quieter than I expected and certainly less developed than some of the other resorts I've been to. The hotel was functional and much cheaper than some of the alternatives. Only thing missing was tea and coffee in the room but we brought our own travel kettle so that wasn't a problem. Overall I'd recommend the Adriatic - you get what you pay for, and in this case it certainly exceeded expectations.

Only came back after spending 3 nights in the adriatic,in a rush we booked the adraitic and after we booked decided to check the reviews on the hotel none of which seemed good,as we approached the hotel we were very worried as to what we were staying in for the w/end but as we checked in we realised that this was not the same hotel we had read the reviews about,in complete contrast to the bad reviews the hotel staff were lovely all throughout the stay, the rooms were spotless, there WAS air con,a tele with 21 stations(about 5 were english speaking),there was a complete shower cubicle, the restaurant is literally across the road(food was okay). All in all we had a lovely stay at the adriatic and should we go back to croatia the adriatic will be the first hotel that we will be booking.
