Valamar Diamant Residence - Porec, Croatia 

The service from almost all Croatians is polite and effective. They understand a uniformly high quality approach to hospitality. This hotel is well run with plenty of excellent staff at all times on every occasion, such as resturant, bar areas, pool bars, room cleaning etc. They really look after you. The cost of the pound (?) is such that the Kuna is reasonably good value at present. Porec lacks top quality resturants and the weather was poor all week. Yes, the reason Istria is so green is because it rains a lot. Evening entertainment, in the hotel, is strictly for the older set and lacking in style and quality. But the comfortable hotel, good beer and fine wine made up for the lack of entertainment. A week is about right to absorb the Porec area without a car.

Rest assured anybody thinking about staying at this hotel you will not be disappointed It is the best hotel I have stayed in in all of Europe The staff are very attentive and extremely polite The food is the usual buffet style but choice is varied(unless you are vegetarian --you need to be careful as sometings stated they were vege but actually weren,t) We used the swimming pool of the hotel next to us as it was bigger but the one in the hotel is good and very clean It is easy to wander over to the Hotel Cristal next door to use their pool and bar It is a bit of a trek to Porec itself --walking along the front from the hotel through the woods takes about half an hour but is a lovely walk all along the seafront We got the tourist train a few times but it can get busy in the evening You can also get a water taxi or failing that there is a boat from brulo beach in front of ther hotel(well about 200 metres) that goes to porec Porec is stunning ---a lot like Dubrovnik in style and very italian in a lot of ways Is it really quite cheap eating out and there are masses of restaurants and bars We will definitely be returning
