Grand Hotel 4 opatijska cvijet - Opatija, Croatia 

As a pensioner I found the room clean and comfortable with a wonderful view over the small harbour to the Islands and the town of Reijeka. The buffet meals had a large choice but most of the meat courses fequently looked and tasted the same. The staff were welcoming and the service excellent. However this hotel, above all things, is a business hotel. The large business complex across the road spills over into the hotel all of the time and it is rare that you can find a quiet corner anywhere for a drink etc. Meetings go on round tables in the lounge all of the time. There is more space at weekends but then weddings etc take over and loud functions go on until 4 am in the morning. There is a major noise problem from a bar adjacent to the hotel. The vibration of the music is incredible and in the rooms nearest to the sea the sound is inescapable. Management are happy to allow this to continue due to the transient nature of the clients, being mainly businessmen, who come once and rarely come again. If you are happy to endure this environment then the hotel is certainly value for money. With the many excellent hotels in Opatija I would think that this hotel is one for the tourist to miss.
