Hotel les Aiglons - Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, France 

On arrival at the hotel we thought the room was quite basic. The bathroom needs updating, but it was very clean and towels are provided and changed daily. The beds were exceptionally comfortable as were the duvets and the room was completely practical for our needs, especially after a day's skiing in the snow - we had to hang all of our clothing around the room to dry! There is a kettle for tea & coffee provided free of charge. Our bedroom had double aspect Mountain views, including the Brevent & another range. The scenery is stunning. There is construction work being done at the back of the hotel (Mont Blanc side of hotel), but in the hotel's defence you could not hear any noise at all. I can envisage that this will be going on for a while as they are planning additional bedrooms to expand the hotel. What makes this hotel is the superb staff who serve in their dining room & the high quality food that is produced for the "half board" menu. For a small supplement the menu can be changed to a la carte if you so wish. Quite simply, the food was exceptional and very good value for money. There is a comfortable lounge area with a bar. In the basement there are facilities to lock your skis & boots away. The free shuttle bus stops right outside the hotel and this takes you to all of the ski areas. There is also the "free Mulet shuttle bus" to take you aroound town. The town centre is less than 10mins walk from the hotel, and there are numerous restaurants, cafes and bars within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this hotel - I have already booked for next year.

We stayed for almost a week at Les Aiglons in Chamonix whilst on a biking trip to the Alps. It was a great base for exploring mountain roads in France, Switzerland and Italy. The hotel was fantastic - great position on the edge of town so not noisy and with amazing views of Mont Blanc and Les Bossons glacier from the public areas, terrace and room balcony. Very clean - rooms were small but comfortable. Staff were really helpful and welcoming. Can't relate at all to some of the negative comments posted by other reviewers. Underground garage (reserved in advance) allowed us to the bikes securely without worrying. We only ate in the restaurant once but the food was good with plenty of choice. Breakfast was excellent. We would definitely base a further trip around a stay at Les Aiglons because of the great welcome we received.
