TripTake Traveler Reviews
I stayed at the L'Ouest hotel for 4 nights in June and then for 1 night in July. I had 2 very different rooms, so I almost feel like I need to write up 2 different reviews! So I will split out my comments into: general comments, first room, and 2nd room.
General comments:
- The location of this hotel is wonderful. It is right by the St Lazare metro station so it's very easy to get around Paris. I think that St Lazare has maybe 5-6 different lines? So it's very easy to get around.
- If you are flying into CDG, it's very convenient to take the Roissybus & then walk to your hotel. Pretty easy to find & maybe a 10-15 minute walk.
- If you don't want to take the metro, it's a pretty short walk to the Seine - maybe 20-25 min walk & you'll be in the Jardin de Tuileries area.
- Front desk is friendly - esp the guy who is there at night after the front entrance is locked (you have to ring a door bell & he will let you in)
First Room:
-Was really pleased w/ my first room - spent 4 nights there. Wasn't as small as I was expecting & the bathroom was pretty big actually. Good shower pressure. Place has definitely seen better days & is a bit 'tattered' but was happy with the room considering what I paid for it.
Second Room:
- This room (#60) was pretty, no, VERY depressing. Tiny room. Floor boards creaked when you walked across the room. Opened the doors & couldn't see anything besides the exterior of the surrounding buildings.
So, bottom line, I would stay here again, but I'd say - DON'T PUT ME IN ROOM 60!
We have just returned from a trip to Paris and spent 2 nights at L'Ouest Hotel. The location is great, being just accross the road from the Metro. That is about the only good thing about this hotel. We got a fright from the moment we opened the door to our room. There was a stale smell in the bedroom. We had to immediately open all the windows. The bathroom/toilet smelt of urine and the towels were thread bare. There was dust on the curtains and other items of furniture. A huge safe lay on the one side of the bed and the key to this had to be obtained from the reception. We were warned not to lose the key as the replacement would cost us EU100.There was alot of noise in the evenings from the restaurant next door. We were certainly glad to be out of there as 2 nights were too much for us. This has certainly taught us not be believe the pictures on the internet and to book at reputable places where we know what we are going to receive.
