Me and a friend stayed at Timhotel Montparnasse in Jan of 2007. We decided on this hotel based on its location and overall ok reviews. Upon arriving at CDG we took the metro strait to Tour Montparnasse and promptly found the hotel on the north north west side of the tower. Upon seeing the hotel it was pretty much what I expected. The rooms where small and so is the lobby, nevertheless it has everything you need. I personally only need a hotel to sleep in and get cleaned up, this hotel provided my with both in a sufficient way without me having to spending a whole lot of money. This hotel is also in a very good location right next to a major train station (which is the direct route to Versailles), as well as walking distance to both the Eiffel tower and the Latin Quarter. Overall would say it was an average hotel, but that did not have any bearing on the fantastic time I had overall in Paris.

I have been to this hotel with my wife this month. Besides the breakfast that was nice, EVERYTHING else was terrible. It was the 4th time I visited Paris and it is the worst hotel by far. We choose it bacause of a big discount on advance booking and we ended up "paying" for our chioce. When we arrived we were given a room in the 7th floor. The elevator (that was so small that could not carry both of us and 2 bags) would only go until the 6th floor and we had to take the stairs with the bags to reach the room. Opening the door we noticed it was already occupied, by the dust living there for months certainly without being cleaned. I went down to complain and asked for another room. After throwing my "old" keys on the floor, the receptioninst decided to give me another room( he was unhappy I said I would not stay in that room). The new one was in another part of the hotel, with an even smaller elevator. The room was better, but still very bad. The heating did not work, the coffee machine was dirty, as well as the towels. The room seemed to flood everytime we took a bath (I said the room also, not only the bathroom). One day the edredon was removed and not replaced. Besides the very unpleasent fact the the cleaning lady would start using the vacuum cleaner like 7am in front of the door and, of course, waking us up. Location is not bad, but there are many other similar locations or even better, as Saint Germain or Quartier Latin.
