Spent three days here with a tour in March. It is a classic. Beautiful grounds, within walking distance of "downtown", and highly attentative staff. We were without luggage (lost by airline) for two days and the staff could not offer enough assistance with personal items to get us through this time. Breakfast buffet is outstanding, the restaurants and bars offer well prepared, delicious and excelently served fare in a traditional manner. The rooms are old and many of the bedrooms are a bit cramped, but the bathroom is modern, well appointed and large with both soaking tub and shower. This is a highly recommended stay.

I stayed at this hotel whilst on business, so I didn't have to pay for it out from my own pocket. None the less, I recommend this hotel for a number of reasons: The decor is old fashioned, but charming. Very English. The beds are incredibly comfy. There's a great attention to detail. After a long day, I would come back to my room to find that staff had turned back my bed, laid a robe and slippers out, and left me fresh fruit and bottled water by my bed side. A bit OTT perhaps, but a nice touch. The staff are friendly and can't do enough for you. The Spa is wonderful - a great way to unwind. Expect prices similar to those in the UK though. Breakfast was lovely - such a great selection. The Planet Bar is a great place to relax with a cocktail. Enjoy your stay! If I ever go back to Cape Town I will probably stay here again.
