AGON Aldea Hotel - Berlin, Germany 

I can see why other people posted negative reviews, but for less than $100 (USD) per night we didn't expect luxury accomodations in the heart of Berlin. The rooms are spartan, and the bathrooms tiny, but we spent most of our waking moments in other places so we didn't really mind. Even though the neighborhood might look dicey to some people, we felt it was a safe building, and the staff were helpful. The U-bahn station is right outside the door, but we walked almost everywhere. A couple blocks west of the hotel (Massen strasse I think?) is a great cluster of restaurants and cafes, so we never ate at the restaurant. There's a great little bakery where we got coffee and pastries every morning. Another bonus is that parking is free!

Wanted a few days away for a bit of father son bonding time and chose Berlin as it was an area he had not visited. Booked with Expedia, from a good number Berlin hotels. This hotel is cheap place to stay, rather than booking a twin room it was a room each at approx ?19.00 per room per night. This normally would have alarm bells ringing, but Berlin is a cheaper city than most, and frankly this worked out to be more than value for money. Ok the good buffet breakfast was extra (15.00 Euro), but this hotel is good on your pocket!. No complaints about the staff. The rooms are neutral, if tired, but clean and very good sized. The bathrooms are unusually small, and the hotel is very much in the old east german vein. The location is not ideal with little in the way of bars and restaurants nearby, but the excellent U bahn is minutes away. Would agree with other reviewers about the illicit ladies prowling the streets, but what city does not have this attraction! In all a CHEAP place to stay, no palace, but for the price it fits the bill!
